Derek was born in Perthshire,Scotland.He has over 30 years experience working as a shepherd which has helped him form a clear idea of the type of dogs he needed.
He also found that you need to breed with quality dogs to produce quality youngstock.No amount of training can make up for poor quality so this is why we only breed with dogs that have special talents and special family lines.
Derek now lives at Lonscale Farm in Cumbria with Helen his wife and Rachel his daughter.
Helen is a keen painter and you can see her work on the oil paintings page. She is the hostess of the house,looking after the many visitors we have! She is well known for her soups and cups of tea!
Rachel is currently self employed working on the farm and working with the dogs.She especially enjoys the breeding side as well as the socializing and training. She also has a local dog grooming business.
Derek also has two sons, one who is a Chef and the other has his own "Handy help" business.
